So I did it. I got on the phone and out in my truck and got busy and in the last two weeks, I became a concert promoter. Singer-songwriter-guitarist Michelle Malone will be presented in concert at Live Bait Too (http://www.livebaitrestaurant.com/...) , 24281 Perdido Beach Blvd. Orange Beach, Alabama 36561 on Friday, November 22nd. The concert, presented by Badger Productions, will benefit both the Baldwin County Democrats and Burton LeFlore, who is currently running as a Democrat for Congress, 1st District, Alabama.
Malone has been performing professionally for over 25 years and has recorded 15 critically-acclaimed albums with her latest, Day 2 having just been released earlier this year. Day 2 features guests like Chuck Leavell, a touring member of The Rolling Stones and Randall Bramblett, who has played with Bonnie Raitt, Gregg Allman and Steve Winwood, among others. The album was co-produced by Shawn Mullins, an old friend of Malone’s and a singer-songwriter himself whose hit “Lullaby” reached number one on the Adult Top 40 and was nominated for a Grammy.
Famous guests like these are nothing new to Malone who has also recorded and/or performed with John Mayer, Sugarland, Little Feat, ZZ Top, Jackson Browne, James Taylor and many others. Her songs have been recorded by Indigo Girls and Antigone Rising, among other artists and her original recordings have appeared in films and television programs including Bam Bam and Celeste, True Blood, Dawson’s Creek, Felicity, Brooklyn South and others.
Burton LeFlore was born and raised in Mobile, Alabama. His family came to Mobile around the turn of the 19th century. His grandfather was a prominent civil rights-era leader in the community; Burton actually attended and graduated from the John L. LeFlore High School, named after his grandfather. Burton later earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of South Alabama and completed his law degree at the Florida State University College of Law in Tallahassee, Florida. He is the owner of LeFlore Real Estate Company in Mobile.
